Dye testing sewers in Salcombe
South West Water will be putting a harmless green fluorescent dye into sewers in Salcombe on Friday (20 March) to help identify defects and plan improvements to the town's sewerage service.
The dye testing will take place during the night and early hours of Friday to fit in with tide times, subject to weather conditions.
Every effort will be made to ensure no-one is disturbed by the operation, which will take place in the town centre and central car parks from about 2am.
South West Water staff and contractors will be observing the sewerage network from about 5.30am and if dye escapes from the network they will be able to pinpoint any sections of pipe that require further investigation and repair.
The dye will disperse naturally and is not harmful to the environment. The local Environment Agency have been briefed and are supportive of the testing. The Harbour Master, MP, Town Council and local businesses have been informed.
Any members of the public who see green dye or who have any concerns should contact firstname.lastname@example.org
