Laboratory Services Manager - Operations
I started working for South West Water in 1989 as a Laboratory Assistant in the Microbiology department.
Soon after I started, South West Water offered me the opportunity to study for a HNC in Applied Biology. After completing this study, I was promoted to the post of Laboratory Technician.
I was fortunate enough to be able to study further until I completed my Degree. This gave me the academic background I needed for further promotion to the role of Scientist and then Laboratory Leader (Microbiology).
In 2008 I moved to my current post of Laboratory Services Manager, with responsibility for ensuring analytical service provision within the company.
We are continually checking that we provide a clean and safe water supply for all and that waste water is treated to safe standards prior to discharge into the environment.
Best Thing About Working for SWW
It is brilliant to have a job that I feel does something valuable in terms of the health and well being of everyone that lives in the South West and the great environment we are lucky enough to enjoy here.
The analytical team at the laboratory really cares about the work they do and its effect on water supplies.
It is great to be part of that team.
