First time sewerage

Areas not connected to the main waste water system may qualify for mains connection under Section 101A of the Water Industry Act 1991.

If you have a cesspool or a septic tank which is causing you and your local environment a problem, why not find out if you could apply to have a public sewerage system?

Do you qualify?

  • The application must be for two or more existing properties with a domestic element of drainage
  • The properties must be at least 30 metres away from the public sewer
  • An environmental and / or amenity problem must exist or be likely to arise with the existing private system

For more information please read our first time sewerage guidance notes. If you would like to make a formal application for first time sewerage please complete the application form.

There is a First Time Sewerage information leaflet which can be downloaded - please click here.  If you would like to receive hard copies of this leaflet, please contact us.

If you are building a new property, or you require a connection for a single property, you will need to make an application for a sewer connection.
