One of the finest Cornish beaches, Porthminster is a stunning 1km sandy beach with a Mediterranean feel. It is a short walk from the harbour and town centre of St Ives and is the perfect bathing environment for families.

Porthminster is excellent for walks around the headland and with the high quality eating and drinking establishments nearby, it is a guaranteed relaxing day at the coast.

Water quality

• Benefits from the 1995 Penzance and St Ives Clean Sweep scheme
• Hayle sewage treatment works offers secondary treatment before discharge through an outfall west of Godrevy Head. This discharge is designed to protect bathing water quality
• There is a storm overflow from Wescots Quay. Overflows exist to protect homes, gardens, roads and open spaces from sewer flooding normally after storms
• Bathing water quality in this area can be affected by urban drainage.

Parking at Station car park, The Warren, Porthminster. Toilets, shops, food and litter bins. RNLI Lifeguard service 21 May - 25 September. No Surf Life Saving GB club at this beach (Nearest club is St Ives Surf Life Saving Club at Porthmeor Beach).

A sheltered beach with calm waters making it a safe environment for swimming rather than surfing.
