Porthmeor is a holder of the Blue Flag Award for the past five years and attracts walkers and families keen to explore the rock pools dotted along the beach. Seals and dolphins regularly visit.

Porthmeor is another popular beach for surfers and body boarders attracted to the short and snappy beach breaks. It picks up good quality surf and is regarded as an excellent place to learn to surf. St Ives Surf Life Saving Club at Porthmeor Beach.
