Popular with surfers when there's a good swell and northerly winds. A mile long sandy beach with some rocky patches. The eastern end has many rocks and pools. The western end has fewer rocks and this is where all the amenities can be found.

Water quality

  • There are five farms in the catchment. During and after periods of heavy rainfall, runoff to the Germoe Stream from agricultural areas is greatly increased, and the quality of the bathing water may be reduced
  • This bathing water is not affected by South West Water overflows
  • Bathing water quality can be affected by other factors including urban drainage.

Surfing, swimming, walking.

Facilities include cafe/restaurant, toilets (including disabled), first aid post, shops, campsite, caravan park, pub.

RNLI Lifeguard service: 29 April-1 October. Weekends only 7 only 15 October. October half term 21 to 29 October.
